Ailton Franco Jr., director of Franco Produções and Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema, is participating in this week as jury of the International Competition and the Explora Programs of CURTOCIRCUITO – VII Santiago de Compostela International Short Film Festival, in Spain. Make part of the jury the young actor Tamar Novas, who has starred in “Mar Adentro”, by Alejandro Amenabar, and in “Abrazos Rotos”, by Pedro Almodóvar, and the English director Emma Sullivan, who had competed in 2009 Cannes Festival and was considered one of British cinema promises.

Whereas in "The Irregular Shadow of Walls", from André Lavaquial, what could be considered a barrier becomes a free and creative space.

Guadalupe Shopping CO2In a pioneering initiative, allying the motto of the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema – CINEMA FOR EVERYONE to the preservation of the environment, the Festival has acquired carbon credits – a compensation for emissions of greenhouse gases by environmental actions undertaken by traditional Amazon communities themselves. The NGO Rede Povos da Floresta (Forest Peoples’ Network) will issue the certificate and will perform the neutralization of 22 tons of greenhouse gases with the reforestation of the YORENKA ÃTAME (Wisdom of the Forest) area in Alto Juruá. The Festival encountered in its partnership with the Ashaninka indigenous community – located in the border area between the state of Acre and Peru and which boasts audiovisual productions – the possibility of financing the monitoring of interventions in reforestation and recomposition of biodiversity and thus contribute to the preservation and dissemination of the environmental knowledge of the inhabitants of the forest which will be reflected in their audiovisual work. This year, we have already confirmed prizes to be awarded by Cinerama Brasilis, Dolby, Kodak, Quanta and Link Digital for the best project, to guarantee the production of a screenplay.
